How to mail merge into separate files (one document per row)
Word doesn't have a button to save each mail-merge record as its own file; people usually split the merged document with a macro. RowDraft creates a separate Word or PDF file for every spreadsheet row automatically and names each one from your columns.
The problem with Word
Finish & Merge → Edit Individual Documents puts every record in one long document, separated by section breaks.
To split it you need a macro, an add-in, or a lot of copying and pasting — and then you still have to rename every file.
Separate, named files with RowDraft
- Upload your spreadsheet and a filled-in example document.
- Link the details that change.
- Type a file name pattern using your columns, like {Client} - Services Agreement or {Employee} Offer Letter.
- Generate. You get a zip with one file per row, already named.
